1. Magnesium has a healing history
The name “magnesium” comes from the Magnetes – an ancient Greek tribe that inhabited the land where magnesium carbonate was first found. At the time, it was used as a laxative to help treat a range of ailments.
Then, in the 17th century, in a city of England called Epsom, water rich in magnesium was discovered in Epsom Spring. This led to the town becoming a popular spa and spa site, where people would drink the water to “purify the blood”.
Wondering if this has something to do with “Epsom salts”? Well, it is! Not only is Epsom salts magnesium sulfate, they get their name from this very town in England.
2. Magnesium is the eighth most abundant element in the universe
Magnesium is abundantly available throughout the universe. But fortunately, we don’t have to look far to find it. The element is also found in land and sea, as well as in plants, animals, and humans.
In fact, magnesium makes up about 2% of the Earth’s crust, with more found in the deeper layers of our planet. 13% of the total mass of the earth is made up of magnesium!

3. Magnesium does not occur naturally on its own
