AEW’s next PPV is revolution On Sunday, March 5th in San Francisco, California. That leaves three weeks of televised broadcasts with only one official match booked so far. Let’s analyze what the card is destined for.
the revolution The card officially includes:
- AEW World Heavyweight Championship: MGF (c) vs. Bryan Danielson at Iron Man 60 Minutes
Brian Danielson had to win five singles matches in the space of five weeks to become the number one contender and cement his Iron Man clause. Despite MJF’s best efforts to push through the contest to injure Danielson, it was on fire through Konosuke Takeshita, Bandido, Brian Cage, Timothy Thatcher, and Rush.
The rest of the squad is up in the air. The list of heroes includes:
- AEW Women’s World Championship: Jamie Hayter (c) vs. Heck
- AEW World Tag Team Championship: Gunns (c) vs. TBA
- AEW World Tag Team Championship: Elite C vs. TBA
- TNT Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs. TBA
- TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Fuck
- AEW All-Atlantic Championship: Orange Cassidy (c) Vs. Heck
AEW has yet to develop a #1 contender for the World Women’s Title, but there is a fascinating story brewing in the division. Jimmy Hayter and Dr. Brett Baker DMD representing local AEW wrestlers. Saraya and Tony Storm represent the Outsiders. The four are all fools, and they want Ruby Suhu to pick a side. Soho is no jerk, so there seems to be a lovable element missing from this equation. Soho will have to make a decision in the end, but I’m not sure how all of this will turn into Hayter’s title defense on PPV.
Gunn’s sons won the tag titles from The Acclaimed last week. A rematch should be due in no time. If it wasn’t Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, Top Flight or FTR would probably be next in line.
The Triads section is wide open to the elite. The House of Black seems to be on the horizon, but they seem to be busy with Eddie Kingston at the moment. The highest profile match for Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks will be against Sting, Darby Allen, and III. Perhaps AEW is knocking on the forbidden door in NJPW’s dream match.
Samoa Joe and Wardlow are on a collision course for the TNT title.
Jade Cargill beat Red Velvet to go 50-0 in her junior career. No one is clear on the radar for Jade’s next opponent. The most interesting thing might be an open challenge for an injured returner or a new signing. Kris Statlander would be a good choice to pick up Jade’s line, if she’s healthy. Lili Hirsch will have a nice pop, but she’s unlikely to beat Jade.
Orange Cassidy is the free shot trading champion. He has feuded with Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh. His chance was indeed fatal. Jarrett’s permanent sketch could be the next PPV.
Other potential matches for the PPV and pre-show include:
- Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page
- Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks
- Adam Cole vs. TBA
- Facing the revolution ladder match
- Eddie Kingston vs Malachi Black
- Swerve Strickland vs Keith Lee
- FTW Championship: (c) Hook vs. TBA
Hangman Page is dissatisfied with Jon Moxley winning the miserable rubber match on the roll-up. Ricky Starks wants to embarrass Chris Jericho. Adam Cole has hinted at his return to the ring for the PPV. The winner of the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match earns a future TNT title shot. Possible candidates for the competition are Jungle Boy, Konosuke Takeshita, PAC, Fenix, Pentagon, Rush, Bandido, and Mark Briscoe. Malakai Black made Eddie Kingston look like an asshole. The Mad King wouldn’t take it kindly. Swerve Strickland smashed a cinder block over Keith Lee’s chest. Lee will eventually return, and Swerve will have to pay the price. Hawk is always a game to fight. Perhaps there will be a one-on-one confrontation with W. Morrissey.
What do you think will be the final card for revolution? What matches are you hoping to get booked?
