Hunter Labrada Doesn’t Aim for Extra Size, Plans a Streamline Health

After a disappointing seventh place finish in 2022 Mr. Olympia, Hunter Labrada seems to be in a frank meditation. In mid-January 2023, the elite bodybuilder revealed that he was so upset with his latest Olympia results that he made a temporary blackout on social media to avoid negative comments on his performance. At the same time, he promised to rebound as much as possible, revealing some of his plans to help along the way.

On February 8, 2023, Labrada posted a testimonial on his YouTube channel, where he broke down some of his future plans. In this, he revealed that he no longer has a strict goal for the size of his training. However, The athlete continues that she wants to “shrink her waist” while he focuses on other details of his body during the 2023 competition year.

Aside from tightening her waistline, Labrada is clear on all of her new goals. He wants to hit the ground running in his off-season, and he wants better digestion as well as a bigger return in the process.

A world of possibilities can open up for a bodybuilder if they are not chasing overall size.

“Everything needs to be thicker, but that’s the main area [his back] of focus,” said Labrada. “Also, I definitely put a lot of weight on it – this is my first off-season, where everything is enough. I don’t have to chase size to the point where I’m hanging on the sink in the kitchen sick because I’m full all day. This off-season, we’re going to put a big emphasis on eating a lot of whole foods and supplementing in a way that we can really optimize my digest and reduce my waistline.”

As for the specific ways to improve his body otherwise, Labrada didn’t go into too much detail. However, he maintains that he will focus on polishing his abs, especially in vacuum poses – where an athlete contracts their abs to target the deepest muscles. It’s a thought process that apparently started after his most recent Olympia result.

“I’m going to continue training abs like I’ve been doing,” Labrada began. “This is one thing [vacuum poses] which I started doing after Olympia. I have noticed that it has already made a huge difference… I have been doing this every morning and it has already made a huge difference in a month. So I will continue to beat the drum and check all the boxes every day, and do what is in my control as I can do it. At the end of the day, that’s all we can do. ”

To achieve his desired redemption, especially if he will qualify for the 2023 Mr. Olympia, Labrada will likely need to think outside the box to make significant changes. Whether he can translate his new aesthetic-focused plans into something unique remains to be seen. Bodybuilding fans can be sure that the experienced athlete will use his full effort and attention to reach his current target.
