A while back, Ring of Honor owner Tony Khan posted the following on Twitter:
Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he’s been a star in ROH for over 20 years, from its premiere until today.
Jay and his brother Mark took control of ROH, maintaining the title reign to this day. We will do everything we can to provide for his family.
Rest in peace Jamin– TonyKhan January 18, 2023
As mentioned by Khan, Jay Briscoe has spent over two decades in the professional wrestling industry as one of the premiere tag team stars in the game. He was a former Ring of Honor world champion and held the tag team titles alongside his brother Mark at the time of his death.
The Briscoes have always been deeply ingrained in the culture of ROH, and are two of the promotion’s longest-running members who have been known to go as far as they need to be to entertain. They were great professional wrestling personalities but equally awesome in the ring and cut promotions you won’t hear anywhere else. They were a one of a kind team that always seemed destined for bigger and better things.
There are few details surrounding the circumstances of his death, though PW Insider reported a car accident.
May he rest in peace.
