Ever since Vince McMahon orchestrated his return to the WWE board of directors two weeks ago, one topic of discussion among wrestling fans has been the fate of the many wrestlers signed to Triple H since he took over last summer.
Many in that group were released by Vince and his team over the course of two and a half years before his brief, scandal-affected retirement. If McMahon were to resume his control over the creative and talent aspects of the business (which, up until this point, everyone involved insists doesn’t happen), it wouldn’t be surprising to see him cut down some of the same people again.
You’d think some in the locker room would have similar concerns. We’ve heard rumors to that effect, but one wrestler who was released by Vince and re-signed Hitch said that’s not what he’s hearing.
In a promotional interview this weekend Royal RumbleAnd Karrion Cross spoke to San Antonio Express News On Vince’s return and how he plays behind the scenes:
“It’s in my news feeds, it’s everywhere. It’s inevitable at this point. But the people I’ve talked to about it, like my personal friends at work, no one really cares about or is afraid of their work. We’re all ready to adapt… I think everyone takes it day by day to see where it all lands, and we all try to stay optimistic.”
This quote from Kross is particularly interesting, as last week he posted a video to his personal YouTube channel for the first time since returning to WWE in August. This angle with Kevin Sullivan could certainly be used to return to his Killer Kross gimmick if he and wife Scarlett were suddenly free agents again…
Kross is set to face Rey Mysterio SmackDown on Friday (January 27), and competed in the Royal Rumble match the following night – so it’s safe for the short term. Beyond that… Tik Tok?
