Michal Križo Withdraws from 2023 Arnold Classic, Aims to Return in September

When Michal “Križo” Križánek became a member of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Pro League in the Fall of 2022, he was still a relative unknown on the big bodybuilding scene. The pro competitor parlayed ambiguity into the ambitions of the 2022 Mr. Olympia. The competition was his debut on an Olympia stage and acted as a way to show off his incredible mass and physique. In the end, the result of the 12th place is a strong debut, but the athlete is not satisfied.

On January 10, 2023, Križo posted a video on his YouTube channel where he discussed some of his plans for the 2023 calendar year. One of the most famous revelations is that athlete will skip the 2023 Arnold Classic in Columbus, OH, this March in the interest of refining perceived gaps in his general training.

As a competitor without an automatic berth in 2023 Mr. Olympia this November, Križo should earn his keep by winning a show in the IFBB Pro League after organizational changes in its qualification system. Before that happens, however, he stated that his body needs proper rest if he wants to continue his first Olympia performance.

This is a conditioning factor that is obviously an issue in a whirlwind 2022 for the competitor.

“I have to choose [my next IFBB Pro League show] wise,” said Križo. “I’m not happy with my conditioning [2022] Olympia because I know I can enter in more conditions than that. I’m so tired.”

Križo did not offer many details on when he will compete again after declining his invitation to the Arnold Classic. He offers several options, perhaps especially the Arnold Classic UK contest, which will be held in September 2023 at the recently renamed Experience With Sports Festival UK (formerly Arnold Sports Festival UK). He also envisions what’s next in his bodybuilding journey.

“I don’t know yet,” Križo said of his plans. “I want to do the Arnold Classic UK. I will definitely do the [2023] EVLS Prague Pro, but this time just after Olympia, two weeks later. [The Arnold Classic UK] usually in September. the [2023] The Olympia in November, I think. that [Arnold Classic UK] should be at the end of September. I have to choose at least two to three movies. There is no guarantee that I will win first. “

With Hadi Choopan who is now defending Mr. Olympia, any number of competitors will have their sights set on knocking off the first-time winner. Križo chose his path towards such an ideal personal result, and only time will tell if the strategy will succeed.
