News tip: Charlotte Flair, Dragon Lee debut, NXT wrestlers working in India, more!

Speculating on rumors surrounding professional wrestling is a favorite pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors sparked by the professional wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: rumors are just rumours. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the professional wrestling rumor mill. Rumors of the day:

  • Booker T speculated on his podcast WWE would do Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley in WrestleMania 39 Because of the former Hollywood aspirations. Do whatever you like.
  • Dave Meltzer said on Observer Wrestling Radio Dragon Lee’s NXT debut was affected by issues with his visa. It is possible that they wanted to bring him for the day of revenge but that did not happen.
  • On that note, word got around that NXT would allow wrestlers to do independent promotions. At the moment it’s only Reality of Wrestling but the belief seems to be that that could expand to other independent indies, specifically those that “have a good relationship with AEW.”
  • the Wrestling Newsletter He notes that the reason for the rumored Brood Edge vs. Demon Finn Balor Hell in a Cell match in Royal Rumble It didn’t because the former was filming a TV show and couldn’t be around to build the match.
  • Also according to WON: “There have been a lot of cutbacks on the side of the company in the last few weeks in the various divisions since Vince McMahon came back. The belief is that these cutbacks are being done to cut costs to prepare the company for sale.”
  • the daily Mail‘s Alex McCarthy“Many of the talent who underwent a character change under Vince McMahon discussed what their future under Triple H looked like, but not all of them wanted to return to NXT personas or whatnot – but Triple H welcomed those conversations.”
