NXT books multi-title matches for Vengeance Day

NXT held a “New Year’s Evil” TV special this week, with two matches that could/would determine the next contenders for the title in the tag team and women’s divisions, respectively.

First, Pretty Deadly attempted to turn on the Gauntlet for the right to get a rematch against The New Day. They came quickly when the returning Gallows took out Briggs and Jensen to steal their spot and ran through Elton & Kit en route to winning the match themselves.

It wasn’t made clear if they were going to take Pretty Deadly’s place in the tag team title match, but they teased a lot with Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston staring.

We’ll have to follow it up.

Later in the evening’s main event, 20 women hit the ring in a battle royal to find the next challenger to Roxanne Perez’s championship. The final four came down to Gigi Doolin, Jesse Jane, Alba Fire, and Lyra Valkyria. Jade Korra, who was eliminated first and kept coming back to try and destroy her in favor of Valkyria, who eliminated her, finally succeeded in eventually eliminating both Lyra and Vir.

This left only the toxic attraction to find out. Jane sneered as if she was going to give it to Doolin and remove herself but Dolin didn’t hear a thing from her. Instead, fight it.

Then they eliminate each other at the exact same time anyway. Both are declared the winner of the match.

So it will be a triple threat in revenge day On Saturday, February 4, 2023 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Last but not least, Shawn Michaels announced that Bron Breaker will be defending the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller in a Steel Cage match. This came thanks to their match earlier in the show ending by countout when Waller fell to the outside after breaking the middle rope.

It was deemed an unsatisfactory conclusion, and placing them in a steel cage would lead to an eventual end to this feud.

Sounds good to you?
