Report: Tony Khan wants to buy WWE

Vince McMahon is back in power in WWE, and he’s trying to sell the company. With a market value of about seven billion dollars, the rumored list of potential buyers includes such giants as Comcast, Disney, Amazon and Endeavor, among others. There is also a rumor that Saudi Arabia is “on the hunt”. McMahon is said to be looking to finalize a deal by the summer.

According to a new report from Barronsister publication to The Wall Street Journal, there is one other potential buyer that might create the most surreal “what if” scenario of them all:

“All Elite Wrestling — WWE’s biggest competitor, led by Tony Khan and his family — is in the pool of potential WWE buyers,” said a person close to Barron’s potential deal, adding that the Khans will likely be looking for a financial partner to acquire the asset. Tony Khan’s father Shahid Khan, who is co-owner of AEW, already owns soccer team the Jacksonville Jaguars and English soccer club Fulham Football Club, which indicates that the duo has big pockets.”

Earlier this week, Tony Khan said he’s been following the storyline of Vince McMahon’s return to WWE closely. It would be totally wild if the Khan family ended up as part of a group buying WWE later this year. It’s extremely unlikely that this would actually happen, of course, but pro wrestling news is crazy these days, so I guess you never know.

What do you think of this, Cagesiders? Do you think we’ll see Tony pop up raw Within a few months he announced he had bought WWE?
