Vince McMahon is back as CEO of WWE, where he says he will “review our strategic alternatives and maximize value” for the company’s shareholders. More specifically, Vince is said to be exploring the possibility of selling the company.
to me Observer Wrestling Radio Nick Khan CEO Dave Meltzer was doing his part earlier this week to facilitate the sale of WWE, with the goal of closing a deal by this summer:
Many media companies, names that are out there, are all under consideration. Nick Khan was in LA… he went to the Monday Night Football game, so he wasn’t there raw. Get together with some heavy hitters, because the heavy hitters went to the college football championship game.”
“They are looking to sell by the middle of the year. JPMorgan is helping them.”
Meltzer specifically pointed to Disney CEO Bob Iger and ESPN’s Jimmy Pitaro as two of the “heavy hitters” Khan met with on Monday night. However, selling to Saudi Arabia is also one viable option on the table:
Saudi Arabia in the hunt… There is certainly smoke in the Saudi Arabia story. But it is too early to complete the deal. But this can also happen.
Meltzer has confirmed that almost all potential bidders are publicly traded companies, while Saudi Arabia remains a top contender if Vince wants WWE to go private again.
Do you think WWE will be sold out by the middle of the year, Kaigisider?
