Some educated guesses about the direct Royal Rumble entrants

After weeks of focusing on boardroom drama, stock prices, and potential litigation, I hope you’re great if you get back to having some fun this week. We’re only eight days away from my favorite event of the year, and I’m excited to see what Triple H and company are doing. Especially after the release of a new report indicating that we are in front of more than a few surprises.

Many people were at least baffled by WWE’s decision to announce Cody Rhodes’ return early, fearing that they might have spoiled their biggest surprise match of the year. But let’s be honest, would anyone be surprised that Cody would return to the Rumble?

The answer is no. And according to a new report, WWE was well aware that fans were anticipating the return of American Nightmare after his pectoral tear last year.

A source asked why the Rumble was announced as Cody’s return instead of as a surprise.

It’s twofold, the source said, one that almost everyone already expected this to happen and the second, the source says they’re “more than happy” with the other surprises lined up.

OK then. Things got a little more exciting before the end of next week.

I was very happy to read this article from WrestleVotes. For one thing, surprises are among the best things about the entire event. You really never know who will show up. And secondly, I think we can all agree, WWE kind of owes us after last year’s debacle, right?

Don’t get me wrong, I would never hate a Bad Bunny appearance, but outside of that men’s match last year it was a complete mess – fueled by all the backstage drama involving Shane McMahon. Not to mention that the match itself became meaningless in the long run. Something I’ve written about countless times, so I won’t be paraphrasing here.

Bottom line, WWE knows they have to deliver big time this year. So, who could we see returning to the ring in San Antonio?

There are some logical choices, which are actually a bit obvious when you think about it, but they are some of the big names that could be in town to set up some WrestleMania matches. Here are some possibilities.

Note: I am not reporting that any of the following Superstars appear at the Royal Rumble. I am simply making educated guesses.

John Cena

The 16-time world champion has waited until the last possible opportunity to compete in a match in 2022, thus keeping his streak of wrestling in WWE every year for the past 20 years. I have a hunch he won’t wait nearly as long to stretch those gorgeous feet to 21.

Much like everyone else further down the list, his insanely busy schedule makes it very difficult to predict any appearances for WWE (especially one that includes an actual match), but I think we’ll see John Cena enter his first match from then on. 2018.

His chances of winning and challenging Roman Reigns are very slim. But don’t be afraid to get established. According to recent reports, John has a date with a champ in WrestleMania 39, He’s not just the chief of the tribe.

Observer Wrestling He says that Cena is smitten in a match against United States Champion Austin Theory.

This match has been rumored and hinted at for some time now. Back in June, Theory basically told Cena that he was old washed up during the 20th anniversary of his WWE debut. Fast forward to just a couple of weeks ago, and “The Champ” dropped that not-so-subtle hint raw.

I mean, come on. This is the same tone, pace, inflection and change in the word “here” that we’ve heard from John Cena almost a million times throughout his career. Gotta give the kid some credit, he nailed it.

With Theory already announced for the Rumble match, the opportunity is there to give the 25-year-old a major scrub by eliminating Cena and giving him weeks of promotional material to set up his final showdown in April.

However, since one of my superiors has instilled in me, nothing remains a thing until it becomes a thing. Plans fluctuate and change constantly.

There are many other names that have been floated as possible opponents of Cena, with Choose a fight They reported that Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul are among them. Of course, there’s always the possibility that Triple H might decide to tease us with a big dream match.

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Imagine that for a moment. It comes to the halfway point during the Royal Rumble match. There are approximately 10-12 superstars in the ring, many of whom had a hot moment. The crowd is starting to calm down a bit and could use a bit of a refresher.

The clock starts counting down from 10, 9… goes down to 3… 2… 1… the bell goes off. There is a brief moment of silence. Then this iconic glass shatters.

I can’t even fathom how loud it is inside the Alamodome as over 30,000 people are losing their minds. Austin hits the ring. amazing one.

Another stunner.

Another stunner.

OK. I’ll stop, but you get my point. Austin can help clear out the ring until there are only two men left. Stone Cold and John Cena – stare at each other, soaking in the crowd’s electricity before finally exchanging blows. A moment that can truly be compared to Hogan vs. WrestleMania X8.

Even if we don’t see Austin and Cena jailed in LA, if done right, the exchange should be enough for those fans who were dying to see this generational battle, which has only been played out in video games.

Anyone who follows the Texas Rattlesnake on social media knows that he’s in great shape and that wrestling fans have been hungry for another Stone Cold mud stomp after the rave reviews he received for his match against Kevin Owens in Dallas last year.

I think there’s a better than good chance we’ll see Austin ignite a Texas crowd again.

Sasha Banks, now known as Mercedes Monè, may not be on her way back to WWE anytime soon, but the feeling within the company is that Naomi will return at some point in the near future.

We haven’t seen the former SmackDown Women’s Champion since she came out on an episode of rawWith “Sasha” about creative differences. What happened this past May, a new report says, came during the midst of contract negotiations that were apparently heading towards a big payday for Naomi.

If WWE is willing to invest financially in Naomi, I hope they will be willing to do so creatively upon her return.

This phrase gets thrown around fairly often, but Naomi has truly been one of the most untapped talents in the dressing room of the past few years. Even as SmackDown Women’s Champion, she didn’t get the opportunity to get on a marquee program to cement her title. Charlotte fought to a draw and had a series of televised defenses against Lana, before dropping the belt to Natalya in the final summerslam.

Naomi is exactly what SmackDown needs right now. Blue Brand has a lot of talent in her women’s division, but she’s desperate for someone else who’s finished with the crowd and can help elevate others in the locker room.

Also, if Ronda Rousey is truly out of the main picture for the foreseeable future, Charlotte needs an opponent for WrestleMania. If WWE can convince Naomi to put her pen to paper on a new deal, then she should seriously consider having her win it all in San Antonio and take on The Queen for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in Los Angeles.

Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona

Chelsea Green seems like a no-brainer to make her comeback to Texas. She’s reportedly been under contract with the company for some time and was just waiting on creative plans before returning to television.

If WWE is looking to make some surprise matches in the women’s Royal Rumble, then former Impact Knockouts World Champion is a card they can definitely play. For the past few weeks, Green herself has been dropping hints on social media that she will be returning to WWE. Another indication that I’ll see her next Saturday night.

Clearly Green could have some fun here. Maybe she’s already stuck in creative purgatory. Or maybe she was waiting for her husband to come back to the company, too.

Personally, I think adding Green and Matt Cardona as a power couple would be a very smart way to go for WWE.

Cardona has had an amazing career since his launch in WWE, competing across Impact, NWA, GCW and more in the past few years. However, there has been some rumblings about Cardona returning to the place that called him home for 15 years, and that speculation has only recently intensified.

Earlier this week, Cardona trademarked the name “Zack Ryder,” which (for those who don’t know) was the inside name he used during his time in WWE. What that could mean, is anyone’s guess.

Cardona has been keeping busy, just last week participating in Impact Wrestling Hard to kill in a four-way elimination match for the Tag Team Championships. The former Intercontinental Champion has not ruled out a possible return to WWE, but there have been no reports that he has signed a new contract.

Whether he does in the end or not, there is always the possibility that Cardona will come off as a “banned” participant. I think he is definitely someone he is looking for in Royal Rumble.

the rock

Well, this is the (awesome) you’ve been waiting to read about. It was the worst in wrestling that WWE hoped to book a main event for Night 2 at WrestleMania 39. Roman Reigns defended the WWE Undisputed World Championship against his real-life cousin and Hollywood superstar, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

However, with only one world champion on the roster, that spot on the Grandest Stage of Them All is guaranteed for the winner of the 2023 men’s Royal Rumble match. Triple H is going to have to get very creative and work around that somehow or The Rock will have to Book two matches, instead of one.

Given his timeline, this may seem highly unlikely, but that doesn’t stop fans from reading the tea leaves and convincing themselves of the Great One’s substantial return.

It’s certainly possible that WWE could use Roman Reigns’ tribute ceremony on Raw XXX, as a catalyst to bring in the most popular member of the Anoa’i family. I’m not saying he’s going to attend this show, but something might happen that would motivate him to book a flight to San Antonio.

Fan excitement then shifted to hyperbole when WWE released new Rockstar merchandise.

Before you get your hopes up like the undisputed Miss Sunshine here, the new Wrestling Newsletter Huge bucket of cold water on Rock vs. Reigns takes place at WrestleMania.

This report means one of two things. There is a big difference between being in shape, which is clearly represented by the rock, and being in the shape of a ring. The Rock could be really worried about the core not being where it should be on the kind of match that matches the hype.

Or… This is a giant smoke screen that makes people doubt the obvious. If so, this is a clever play. If a small part of the audience convinces itself that there won’t be any, that will make The Rock’s comeback even better. WWE wants his involvement to be the biggest secret possible.

I’m going to say this a lot, unless it’s the aforementioned Stone Cold or John Cena, I pity whoever gets into the Rumble at #30 if The Rock isn’t around. They will hear it from 30,000 people. You might want to save this place for Austin Theory.
