The clock is ticking on Rey Mysterio’s career
Almost two months passed when Karrion Cross announced that he intended to end the legendary career of Rey Mysterio. Both men are officially entered into tomorrow night’s Royal Rumble match, but they can’t wait until then to get their hands on each other. Mysterio vs. Kross is booked in a singles match for tonight’s episode of SmackDown.
Rey suffered an injury late last year and has only wrestled one match since early November. Cross took advantage of that time to play mind games with Rey, mocking his sloppy parenting skills and reminding Mysterio that time is running out in his career. Kross has also done strange things with tarot cards to imply that the end is near for Rey.
Ray is kind of a feisty fellow and he’s had enough of Carrion’s lip, so he attacked Kross on the Jan. 13 episode of SmackDown. Things did not go well for Mysterio; Scarlett gets involved and Ray is strangled in a Krossjacket.
This angle serves as a reminder that Rey has no good way of neutralizing Scarlett’s potential interference tonight, and he’s already in his usual underdog role even if she stays out of the mix.
Regardless, Ray believes he’ll win the Royal Rumble match this year, just as he did in 2006. If he can’t beat Karrion Kross in a singles match tonight, it’s hard to see how the aging legend can live up to his word tomorrow night at Royal Rumble.
Title scene
Kevin Owens is a challenge WWE Universal Championship Roman Reigns V Royal Rumble. On the eve of the title match, Owens goes one-on-one with Solo Sequa. Owens can’t lose right before a PPV match, but Sikoa has never been pinned to the main roster. This seems like the end of a spiral to me. Reigns made it clear that he did not want to see Sami Zayn before the Rumble. Will Zain defy those orders?
Usos will stand up for SmackDown Team titles tag Against the winner of tonight’s tournament with two legs in the semi-finals. Banger Bros. are the heavy favorites against Hit Row, while the Legado del Fantasma vs. Imperium score has more uncertainty.
SmackDown Women’s champion Charlotte Flair has been physically and verbally provoked by Sonya Deville. Flair already beat Deville in a title match earlier this month, so an additional gimmick might be needed if WWE books a championship rematch.
Intercontinental hero GUNTHER can focus on winning the Royal Rumble now that he’s put down Braun Strowman’s challenge.
Bailey W WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions IYO SKY and Dakota Kai have no business SmackDown These days, but they could show up tonight if they want to officially announce three of the 23 unclaimed spots for the women’s Royal Rumble match.
Other things to watch
— Thanks to help from American Badass BikerTaker, Bray Wyatt slammed Team LA Knight with Sister Abigail’s kiss on this week’s Raw XXX. Los Angeles is already an underdog heading into tomorrow night’s Mountain Dew Beach Black game against Wyatt, so he’ll need to come up with a devious scheme to get the edge on Bray and gain some momentum tonight.

– Ronda Rousey disappeared from WWE in 2023 and it looks like she’s not a factor in it Royal RumbleHowever, her friend Shayna Baszler sets her sights on hurting people and winning the Royal Rumble match.
– Raquel Rodriguez beat the shit out of Liv Morgan two weeks ago on her way to announcing her spot in the Royal Rumble match. Will Morgan do anything tonight to remind the fans that she’s supposed to have a good chance to do well in the Rumble match?
Braun Strowman and Ricochet entered the Royal Rumble match. Will they team up tonight to conquer some heels as preparation for the big game tomorrow?
Lacey Evans will be returning to WWE TV soon. Could she be re-debuted as a participant in the Royal Rumble match (before being repackaged again the following week)?
