WWE is promoting its latest collaboration with Netflix, a series that premieres January 25th titled against the ropes.
It’s about a mother who struggles to connect with her daughter after a stint in prison… until she dons a pro mask and embarks on a professional wrestling career. Rey Mysterio gets “featured” credit (at least in the WWE hype for the show), but we only see him briefly in the trailer. It seems logical that the future Hall of Famer would play a mentor to the mother and aspiring wrestler.
What doesn’t make sense? Why Mysterio didn’t describe his performance in this trailer. Jump to the roughly 20-second mark in this Twitter video to hear someone else’s voice coming out of Ray’s mouth:

It’s not like Ray can’t provide dialogue. He does it all the time on WWE TV. This probably wasn’t the final cut, and it’s a safe bet Mysterio doesn’t have a lot of screen time on this one anyway.
However, I bet this is all his son’s fault. Prison changes a man…
