The political clown show hampers NXT numbers

After ending 2022 on a low note, the NXT brand has made a promising start to the new year.

to me Showbuzz Daily, the January 3 episode had an audience of 653,000 viewers and a rating point of 0.16 in the 18-49 demographic. Both of these figures were higher than 588,000 and 0.12 last week respectively.

Despite the ratings hike, NXT landed 31st on cable for the night in the main demo, down from 25th place last week. Plenty of political cable shows filled out the above graph, thanks to the GOP’s repeated failure to elect Kevin McCarthy speaker of the House, which they still fell short of at this writing.

This episode of NXT was the final show for Evil New Year, so it was a good time for the black-and-gold brand to bring some extra viewers back into the fold. We’ll see if they can hold their own for next week’s big show featuring Braun Breaker vs. Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship.
