This is the best way for AEW to honor Jay Briscoe’s legacy

dynamite Airing tonight (January 25th) with a live show from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. AEW is less than six weeks away from the next pay-per-view on the calendar, revolutionwhich is scheduled for March 5.

This is the best way to honor Jay Briscoe’s legacy

Jay Briscoe was tragically killed in a car accident last week.

The decision makers at Warner Bros. Discovery reportedly raised their heads and prevented AEW from doing anything major to honor Briscoe on last week’s episode of dynamite. Fortunately that will change tonight when ROH World Tag Team Champion Mark Briscoe made his AEW television debut, wrestling Jay Lethal in a singles match. AEW President Tony Khan said the two men requested this match to celebrate the life and legacy of Jay Briscoe on his 39th birthday.

Did the WBD executives who finally banned The Briscoes see the stupidity of their decision? Or was this a cold reckoning with WBD that realized bad PR from the ban would eventually cause them to bite themselves in the ass? Regardless of why the ban was lifted, the bottom line is that the stage is set for one of the most emotional wrestling matches of the year.

This is Mark Briscoe’s chance to commemorate his brother on the national stage, on his brother’s birthday. There’s really nothing left to say other than this is a must-watch episode of dynamite.

The rest of tonight’s lineup

Darby Allen doesn’t know how to slow down and take a break. Defending TNT Championship Tonight against House of Black member Buddy Matthews. Allin specifically requested this match, stating that he has unfinished business with the House of Black dating back to last year’s feud where he sent Sting, Darby and Miro the House on hiatus after a match at All Out 2022.

Bryan Danielson’s dream path takes a turn tonight when he steps into the ring with Brian Cage. Danielson must win every week through February 8th if he wants to win AEW World Champion MJF in a 60 minute Iron Man match revolution. MJF is starting to feel bad for Danielson, so Cage pays huge amounts of money to break Bryan’s arm, win or lose.

The only women’s match of the night is Robbie Soho vs. Brett Baker vs. Toni Storm. Suho wants a piece of Storm after Tony finally turns heel with Saraya and attacks Willow Nightingale. Storm and Saraya are former WWE wrestlers who look down on AEW originals such as Brett Baker, who likely has AEW World Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter is in her corner for this fight. Will Hikaru Shida participate in the match to change the outcome in a certain direction?

Ricky Starks & Action Andretti vs. Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara) announced for tonight. Andretti and Starks have outlasted Jericho in their singles matches so far. Starks defeated Jericho and Jake Hager, while Action defeated Jericho and Daniel Garcia. What scheme will the heel come up with in order to finally beat these guys and get Daddy Magic’s nipples hard?

JungleHOOK reunites tonight in a tag team match against The Firm’s Ethan Page and Matt Hardy. Paige and Hardy don’t have the healthiest relationship, and their anticipated loss in this match is likely to escalate the tension in their group dynamic.

Thanks to the efforts of Daddy Ass, there will be a segment of family therapy tonight in between AEW World Tag Team Champions Acclaimed Gunns. Will Dr. Shelby be there to help understand their cases?
