Top ten healthy gifts for the holidays


The holidays are the perfect time of year to spoil your friends and family, and maybe even buy them a gift they’ll never buy themselves. Maybe they won’t think about it, or maybe they’d rather not spend the money. One example that quickly comes to mind is training sessions with a personal trainer or massages. Although we all love getting a massage, we may not want to splurge ourselves. This is one example.

I’m keen to suggest the following healthy gift ideas in no particular order. They all range in price from very low to slightly more expensive. It is readily available on Amazon in the States or Canada.

1) A high-end water bottle, like the Hydro Flask Wide Mouth, or Corkcicle is nice but often considered somewhat of a luxury at what can be over $40 for just a bottle of water. Why would anyone refuse it as a gift?

2) A good quality aluminum or brass tongue scraper is very cheap (could make a good stocking stuffer) and very nice. Once you start using one, you wonder why you haven’t used it before. It’s a great way to check on your body every morning. Scraping your tongue helps clean the gunk from your tongue and prevents toxins from being reabsorbed. You can even taste better!

3) Heat your feet with socks! Depending on where you live, the temperature can get really low at this time of year and getting outside is often overlooked due to fear of freezing toes. I just saw some really nice looking stocking warmers at Costco the other day

4) Not only does dry skin brushing feel great, the health benefits are numerous. Skin brushing helps remove toxins, improve circulation, stimulate the lymphatic system and get rid of cellulite. Choose a brush with natural fibers, of course.

5) Stay on top of your workout with an easy premium subscription to Total Gym TV. Receive a complete library of total sports workouts and be the first to receive new workouts.

7) Every home needs a good essential oil diffuser. I think we all made mistakes and bought diffusers that weren’t good enough, look for ones with a strong stream of mist that don’t require a lot of refilling.

8) A good blender is a must. I would recommend one that is sturdy and functional so that it is easy to make nut smoothies, baby food, and maybe nut butter. A long warranty is something to consider.

9) I tell all of my clients to put a good juicer on their vacation wish list. Everyone has different needs, but a slow juicer with dual gears will produce the most juice that lasts the longest. Let’s not forget that it also has to be easy to clean!

10) A spa day at your favorite local spa can be something one wouldn’t think of taking the time to do for themselves, but given the gift, there’s no choice, right? Having some quiet time for yourself can be the best gift ever.
