Usually when I write about great professional football and pro wrestling endings, it’s for former WWE 24/7 Champion Rob Gronkowski, or biggest Penta El Zero M fan George Keitel.
But when his team earned its third trip to the Super Bowl in the past four years with a somewhat controversial win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game last night (January 29), it was Kansas City All Pro TE President Travis Kelce who gave me an excuse. To write about one of my other favorite hobbies on the blog here is rasslin.
This one takes some setup to get into the sports-entertainment connection, so bear with me.
Cincinnati beat Kentucky in the AFC title game last year. Not only was this one of the biggest wins in Bengals franchise history, it was one of three straight wins over the vaunted Chiefs. All of those were orchestrated by third-year Bengals brash quarterback Joe Burrow, and the team and Cincy’s beleaguered fanbase have taken on the persona of “Joe Cool.”
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval was one of the guys doing some trash talking about what was going to happen at Arrowhead Stadium (which Mike Hilton on the corner called “Boroughhead”) Cincinnati. rather than just putting some Spicy spaghetti Chili peppers on the line In a bet with a Kansas City government official, Pureval cut an entire promotion on the Chiefs.

This has not aged well. Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes won’t be taking any paternity tests after leading his team to a 23-20 win over Burrow and the Bengals, but Pureval will likely head to a proctologist to find out how to remove that cute shoe shine inserted sideways into his candy ass.. .

The Great One did not appear on Royal Rumblebut at least he was on the podium in Missouri last night.
Now on to the Super Bowl, where a Bloodline-esque match-up with the Philadelphia Eagles and their center Jason Kelsey awaits. Which Kelsey brother would recognize as head of the table!?!?
