Today, WWE hosted an investor call to discuss the company’s latest financial results and future business outlook. Not surprisingly, the return of Vince McMahon was discussed on the call.
Triple H has been the creative director of WWE since McMahon stepped down from that role last summer. Much of the rumors, reports, and speculation focused on WWE’s power struggle behind the scenes, especially in light of major news such as Stephanie McMahon’s resignation from the company after Vince’s return to the board, as well as controversies over Vince’s decision to aggressively seek to sell the company. Many fans believe that it is only a matter of time until Vince takes his old place as WWE Chief Creative Officer away from Triple H.
This synopsis feels like a scripted TV drama in many ways. But you’d never know there was any tension behind the scenes based on how Triple H voluntarily paid tribute to Vince during today’s call. This is what Triple H said:
“I want to reiterate how happy I am and how much fun I’m having in my role as Head of Content. And I also want to add that Vince’s presence has been amazing. And I’ll tell you this, he’s going to allow me to speak for our entire creative team, that we stand on the shoulders of giants. So his return and his involvement, even on Board level only, you come with his amazing vision, which is a tremendous asset to this company… I look forward to continuing to build the business alongside this leadership team for the long term.”
I think the Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club is still going strong as ever in 2023.
How much do you think Triple H’s nose has grown by the end of this statement, Cagesiders?
